Alicja Gaskon

Born In 1984 in Warsaw. She graduated with an MA in painting from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under professor Jaroslaw Modzelewski. In her works she focuses on dividing lines, such as political borders and social barriers. She is interested in topics like immigration, segregation and identity.

Alicja Gaskon lives and works in New York. She has received various awards and fellowships: Finalist of the StartPoint Prize 2011 for the best graduate work of European art schools, New York Foundation for the Arts, NARS Foundation, ArtSlant Magazine, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Poland. She has shown her solo projects at Le guern Gallery in Warsaw, Poland, Balzer Projects in Basel, Switzerland, Polish Institute in budapest, Hungary. The artist's work has been also exhibited in numerous group shows at galleries throughout Europe and in the United States Labirynt Gallery, Lublin, Poland; Noyes Museum w Atlantic City; Saatchi Screen Project in London; Times Square, New York (Chashama and Times Square Alliance), Korean Institute of New York.
