Alice Gaskon – Torpedo Pinata II / Mówienie Obok / Derailment

In psychology, the term “derailment” refers to the situation in which a person asked a question gives an answer irrelevant to that question, related to it only by association. The works shown at this exhibition are a result of a definitive domino of associations. The individual world shown in Gaskon's paintings is both sensual and frightening at the same time. Random and absurd; referring to fetish, fears and freaks of nature; sometimes sarcastic and witty, it is a world made of associations and should be perceived through associations. At the exhibition there are also video works that introduce us to the peculiar flow of the artist's thoughts during the creation process. Gaskon's paintings explode with eroticism and bring connotations of sexuality. They are always ambiguous, which is why they require studied observation, after which the viewer discovers a complex world of emotions and imagination. The world shown in the works of Gaskon is constantly on the edge, where one idea stimulates another. The paintings become personal for the viewer, as they are only a provocation for their own conclusions.
