Order out of Chaos

The exhibition presents recent abstract works by artists associated with Le Guern Gallery as well as guests artists, including paintings, works on paper, photographs. In these – seemingly different – works by Gaskon, Fliciński, Korpyta, Kukla, Omulecki, Pala, Podlaska, Wolniak, Zakrzewski, and Hertzberg can be found a tension between chaos and harmony, disorder and control, form and anti-form.

Representing different generations and different philosophies, informed by different artistic traditions, the artists explore notions of seemingly disorderly forms and colours that give rise to well thought-out compositions. In these sense, their abstractions can be considered in cosmogonic terms since they visualise the genesis of shapeless form, a form composed of unorganised matter and energy.

Differing in morphology and poetics, the works share the aspect of building an image that is subordinated to the artist’s technique and decisions, and a hardly definable moment of constructing form based on creative imagination.
